A group of Nudists are forced to shut down their colony by a group of religious zealots. Rather than leave quietly, the nudists decide to protest by killing themselves on the site, vowing to return one day to terrorize the people who took over their land.
Five years later, a bunch of kids are sent to the ex-nudist colony, which has now been transformed into a campground for religious retreats. True to their promise, the nudist corpses rise from the grave, seeking revenge on the zealots who condemned them.
“Nudist Colony Of The Dead” is a musical/comedy with seven toe tapping, ear catching songs like “Kill Kill Kill All The Zealots,” “The Zombie Rap,” “It’s An Inky Dinky Doo Dah Morning” and of course, the main theme song performed by Joyce Mordoh, which is played on the Dr. Demento radio show every Halloween.
“Nudist Colony Of The Dead” was produced in 1990 on a budget of $35,000 and was featured on Entertainment Tonight, Hard Copy, Fox Entertainment News, and CNBC’s The Real Story (see below).
In 1995, a live stage version adapted from the movie was produced in Hollywood for four months. Four new songs were added and the show was billed as “The Rocky Horror Show” of the 90’s. Here’s a brief segment from the introductory opening of the show.
The play starred Suzanna Griffith, Joe Decker, Buddy Daniels, Dani Leon and Jim Rainey. Griffith, Leon, and Rainey would continue on with Pirro to star in his next two feature film productions; “Color Blinded” and “Rectuma.”
Following in the footsteps of “Little Shop Of Horrors,” Pirro would love to see “Nudist Colony of the Dead”remade on a higher production budget one day.
